BJJ at Mjölnir
Brazilian jiu-jitsu (BJJ) is a combat sport with the main emphasis on grappling on the ground. The goal is to get a dominant position over your opponent and make them submit with a lock, choke or hold. The sport was designed to let smaller, weaker people overcome bigger and stronger opponents, so it relies mostly on leverage and technique rather than strength.
To attend regular BJJ classes at Mjölnir you first need to complete BJJ 101, a six-week beginner course.
The ranking system in Brazilian jiu-jitsu is based on colored belts that represent different levels in the sport. Adult belts are: white, blue, purple, brown and black. As practitioners improve they get stripes on their belt, and once they have 4 stripes the next belt is often not far away.
Mjölnir offers a wide range of BJJ classes in the Gi and Nogi (without the gi) for all levels.
